Rancho Fino Animals
Unfortunately there is a big amount of neglected, badly treated, abandoned and abused animals on the island. We are still blown away by the numbers of cases we have to deal with every single day. Our mission is to rescue, recover, rehabilitate, and reestablish the natural behaviour of the animal (fitting to the species) and find the perfect match/ solution for their future. We want all our rescue animals to live in a safe and protected environment, where they are happy, comfortable and all their needs are being met.
When it comes to animals on the island, there is no shortage of animals. We have a continuous flow of new ones coming into our care. When they are ready, we will slowly look around to find out what is the best option for the future and if possible, adopt them out to their personal perfect match.
Ofcourse we also have a (big) group of animals that stay with us as sanctuary residents. Mostly old, sick, handicapped and/ or in need of round-the-clock special care and expertise due to their physical and/or mental health. We are a bit like ‘the undateable’s’.
We have a kennel-free set up for the dogs. We work with a stable core-pack of dogs and build it out from there. In this way we can achieve the best results when it comes to recovery, (re)socialisation and rehabilitation.
In difference with public, and/ or even many private shelters and ‘kennel-set-up’s; we really get to know our animals, their full character, their favourites, quirks, their desires and needs in a house-style environment.

Lizzy
She is exactly like her mother and does not trust anyone or anything. She was basically born with us as she has lived here since day two; handled, treated and loved just like the others were from the beginning. But Lizzy has always stayed an insecure and worried little girl. It took her over a year to come and live in the pack with us. She still never comes into the house. We can pet her while not looking at her directly. But that is it. She is very happy to see us in the mornings or when we come home, and jumps up and twirls around making happy sounds. Still... Lizzy is a ‘special one’. When she was a small pup, ready to go, she was reserved twice but never got picked up. We hope the perfect match will come along soon. Someone who really sees her and her needs, and has all the patience in the world.
Eddy
Eddy is a very traumatized Mallorquin donkey that was abused by his former owner. When Eddy was not wanted anymore he was tied to a fence on the street and left for whoever would take him. The neighbours took him in and reached out to us.
Freddie
Freddie is very possibly the happiest dog alive on planet earth. As the local pound was full there came a shoutout for help, and we went to have a little stroll through the kennels. There were many that urgently needed to leave and came to the doors to bark, fight kennel mates off for attention and try to get through the small iron mazes of the kennel doors.
In the last dog cage, next to the cats, there sat a very sad looking pointer. Over 80 days in this high-level stress environment. Sitting on concrete surrounded by 24/7 crazy barking. The only dog that did not even bother really looking, did not come to the kennel door to say hi; he had given up.
Pointers are sensitive dogs that when they are having their needs met, are little rays of sunshine… clowns that make you belly- laugh all day long. We took him home immediately. In no time he discovered that at Rancho Fino Rescue, hands don’t hurt you! We are all one together! Freddie recovered and regained trust and joy in life. That clown, that joyful ray of sunlight shines ever since he’s been with us. Freddie is 4/5 years old and is a great fan of children and other active dogs that like to play. Also, Freddie would be very happy to find a new forever home again.
Roc and Lluc(must be adopted together)
Roc and Lluc are two Golden Retrievers who are brothers who lived their 11 years together. 11 rough years. They were rescued twice out of horrendous circumstances being severely neglected and abused. The second time my friend took them out of a horror scene where they were severely neglected, sitting in their own excrements full of tumors, bad ear infections, skin problems and being malnourished. Their tumors were operated on; their ears are a result of a lifetime of neglect and never treated for the infections that resulted in closed ears with scar-tissue that keeps infection and fungi inside. They are still treated on their ears, teeth are cleaned, castrations done and they have made a very impressive recovery. They are the sweetest golden oldies that sleep snuggled up together every night.
Here in the pack I see them happy and making huge progress; a beautiful recovery journey. Still they would be so much more happy and content to have their own owner. Their own place where the attention is for them, their own beds they can sleep in, a garden to explore, run, play, sunbathe and just live out their old days in peace, having all the love and comfort they deserve.
Olaf
Olaf is a young 2 year old handsome superstar! Needs a consequent and experienced owner. Highly intelligent and an amazing dog to work with. High energy, but if treated the right way, meeting his working needs, absolute delight of a dog. Olaf is sweet, playful, loving, loyal, a dedicated family member. He made absolute big steps here at rescue Ranch.
Living socially and fully in the pack with the others was a big learning curve but Olaf is so loyal and eager to learn with the right approach, positive reenforcement and a consequent hand. He loves everyone and is good with visitors, children (from 5 years on), cats (if clearly told its family then sleeps next to them), other dogs big and small (can be reactive on the lead, still working on that).
Olaf can not live with farm animals together as he had a fairly strong hunting- drive. When farm animals are kept in a proper pen or fenced of other area he is completely fine. Playing is where he lives for and sometimes needs to be slowed down or even stopped to not overdo it/ overheat as you need to set the boundary there for him. Also, playtime with other stronger- big dogs need to be supervised and given some breaks here and there.
He is an absolute dream!
“The choice to join, be with Stacey and come into this little world of care and love, the craziness that comes with it, the hard work and 24/7 dedication, the pain, the loss, the non stop need for a place like this by those without a voice... The best choice of my life.”
