The horses we rescued:

Black-Jack

Breed: KWPN'er
Date of adoption: 07/01/2015
Age: 14 years old
Description:
Black-Jack is the horse with whom the whole Rancho Fino idea started. He has a sad history and suffered. When I met him he was starving and not able to be stable on his foot. After he came back with me a second time after a few months with a failed re-homing, I made a commitment, and promised him he can stay for the rest of his life. As he has a big trauma of being left out alone, I let a new girlfriend arrive at the same day, India. From that day on the horse-shelter was born with the return of my Jacky. He became a very happy horse who needed his time and patience to recover from the state he was in when we met. He is a very loyal horse and fits with every other horse! He is a friend for everyone and accepts all kind of characters. He is curious, but shy with 'human' newcomers as he knows cruelty. But he loves massages and brushing sessions!!

India

Breed: Cruzados
Date of adoption: 07/01/2015
Age: 28 years old
Description:
India is a beautiful Spanish mare who did a lot of work in her life. She leads the herd. As she has a very bad front-legg that comes with a huge knie, nobody wanted her because it looks strange and she has times of pain and cripple walking. With her 25 years old she is the oldest mare in Rancho Fino. She is noble and super sweet with everybody. Also very good with kids!!

Forrest (Gump)

Breed: Unknown
Date of adoption: 09/05/2016
Age: 17 years old
Description:
Forrest is the action in Rancho Fino! With his high energie and bubbely character he is like our 'special kid'. Running around to see what is happening near the field, a bloody eye because he bumped his head, a piece of his hair missing or totally covered in mud. Everyday it is a surprice how to find him in the field. Forrest was found by a hiker. He was abandoned in a mountain on a short iron chain with no food. Starving. As you could not come there with traffic he had to walk behind the 4x4 Jeep. Sitting in the back of the Jeep with the backdoors open and a rope attatched to the horse. Sometimes he was running... You get the idea. Forrest. After this adventure everyday is a party for Forrest as he loves running and if he has the chance jumping! One day he slipped and injured himself very badly. A long revovery followed with a lot of special care. Now he is running again! He also loves to go out for riding and explore new grounds.

Kiko

Breed: Pony
Date of adoption: 08/08/2016
Age: 7 years old
Description:
Kiko is our first pony!! And what a character he is! After being alone for a long time his resocializing proces went surprisingly quick. He really stands his ground with the bigg ones and is everyones favourite! His limitless curiosity is adorable and makes him a very funny and typical pony. But dont get yourself fooled by his cuteness overload cause when he desites to 'not do something' he wont. The best way to discribe him is the comparison with the talking 'Donkey' from the movie Shrek.

Molinera

Date of adoption: 08/08/2016
Description:
Molinera is a beautiful..... And was used as a breeding-mare for most of her life and had a lot of voiles. After they could not breed with her anymore she was going to the Butcher, but was saved from that sad end!!  Because of her life history she has Laminitis. Wich is a common problem on stud-farms. Laminitis is a disease that affects the feet/ the hooves. Foot tenderness progressing to inability to walk. She needs special care for that. She loves cuddeling and has a very quietly character. At a brushing session she really goes and stands for it and enjoys to the max.

Nova

Date of adoption: 15/09/2016
Description:
Nova is the latest to join us. She is still in her recovery and resocializing process. She was for two years abandoned and standing in a old iron scrapyard at an empty house. Two very nice people took notice of her and contacted Rancho Fino to make a rescue plan like for the other horses. Because she had no normal food and no fibers for such a long time she has big problems with her digestive and her behind which need surgery. She recovers quick and became immediately best friends with India and Molinera.

Silver

Breed: Spanish
Date of adoption: 18/02/2017
Age: 20 years old
Description:
Silver is a beautiful horse. He was rescued by a real-estate agent who was selling a house. But at the house there was a horse as well in bad condition. This warm hearted man wanted the best for the horse but did not knew anything about these beautiful animals. Silver was very fat from wrong food (only ‘human’ food-rests), had a hoofs that grew massivly long with laminitis and was still a stallion. He brought Silver to the stables of my friends where he got fixed up and became much better and healty. Silver comes now to live a quiet life at Rancho Fino with all the care and special care he needs. Because of his weak back, Silver is slipping away with his left back legg and needs to build up some muscles. He is casterated two months ago, but was a staillion for about 18 years. He lives now with Black-Jack together in the garden and will be slowly getting introduced to living in the herd with the mares.

This is Sevillano. A 22 year old andalusier who comes from a place where he was very unhappy and badly treated. His hoofs where grown tremendously long with still old irons under it so the hoofs started to grow around and over the irons. Also he is full of sarcoïds and tumors in his tail and his behind which needs intensive care. His teeth need doing because they all grown wild and spiky which makes it hard to eat and digest food because of the inhabillity to chew good. Petit Suisse

Breed: Miniature
Date of adoption: 20/06/2017
Age: 9 years old
Description:
Petit suisse is a spanish miniature horse. He was in the same place as Sevillano and was locked up in a little concrete 'stable' full of pooh. He could not look outside or stand with his fellow prisoner Sevi. Getting him out of his little prison made him feel soooo good!! Also the hoofs where grown mega long, the winterfur was still on in his super hot prison (imagine summer in Mallorca 35 + degrees)! Our little Petit  is very nosy, loving,  super sweet with kids, comes for private massages and loves trying to steal food. A well skilled carrot eater.
